Many people are taking Statin drugs to lower cholesterol levels, such as Lipitor (atorvastatin), Lescol (fluvastatin), Mevacor (lovastatin), Pravachol (pravastatin), Crestor (rosuvastatin) or Zocor (simvastatin). These drugs work by affecting cholesterol production in the liver. Some people will have side effects from Statins, including muscle pain. If this is the case, ask your doctor about taking a CoQ10 supplement. Apparently Statin use can possibly lead to a CoQ10 deficiency (CoQ10 is produced in the liver). CoQ10 is also considered important for dental health. There are no known risks in taking a CoQ10 supplement.
