Stress increases levels of hormones in your body that can contribute to more severe gum disease. As reported in the Feb. 2009 Journal of Periodontology, chronic stress leads to higher levels of cortisols, which can adversely affect your health. If you are aware you are stressed, try to focus on getting adequate sleep, eating a healthy diet, exercising your body, and of course keeping up with you dental care.
